Car dealers in Florida’s Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte counties are saying that 2012 could very well be a record-breaking year for them, according to an auto data provider Dominion Cross-Sell.
So far this year, sales in the three Southwest Florida counties have increased by 12%. Moreover, Edmunds.com, a car research outfit, says that auto lease returns have reached 2010 levels. There is still a ways to go until car sales there reaches the pre-recession level of 55,523 new vehicles being sold in 2005. This year, fewer than 40,000 have sold.
The strengthening auto sales in the tri-county region are nearly identical to those of the nation. Overall, across the U.S., new-car sales have jumped by almost 13%.
